MANUFACTURING CAPABILITIES

Last updated: 2021, July

1. General

Any order placed should take the following manufacturing limitations in mind, unless otherwise agreed between the parties under specific circumstances.

2. CNC Machining

The manufacturer will meet toleranced features on the technical drawing to the best of their ability. All parts and features under 6mm Nominal Size will be treated as "over 6mm to 30mm". Parts will be machined to ISO 2768 tolerance standards:

Limits for Nominal Size

Over 6mm to 30mm

Over 30mm to 120mm

Over 120mm to 400mm

Over 400mm to 1000mm

Over 1000mm to 2000mm

Over 2000mm to 4000mm

Plastics (ISO 2768-m)

±0.3mm

±0.5mm

Metals (ISO 2768-f)

Standard order surface finish shall be referred to as As Machined finish. Minor tool marks and scratches visible on the part are acceptable. All sharp edges and burrs will be removed. If any form of threads (internal or external), any non-standard tolerances or any non-standard surface finish are required, these must be clearly indicated in a technical drawing.

Custom anodized (color) must be clearly communicated in the form of a RAL Classic or PANTONE number. The manufacturer will match it at the best of their ability. Perfect color match cannot be guaranteed. Color match on subsequent orders cannot be guaranteed. Minor color deviation is allowed between parts anodized in a batch.

3. Casting and Molding

Standard core & cavity surface finish may have tooling, layer lines, and machining marks and will be smoothed to the manufacturer's discretion. Texture must be clearly communicated in the form of VDI number. The manufacture will match it at the best of their ability. Perfect texture match is not guaranteed.

Molds will be CNC machined or 3D printed to standard tolerances of ± 0.125 mm (± 0.005"). Unless otherwise noted, standard tolerance of ± 0.250 mm (0.010") will be held for each manufactured part. Part-to-part repeatability within the same mold will typically be < 0.100 mm (0.004"). Any tolerances tighter than ± 0.125 mm (± 0.005") will be a best effort. Each mold is expected to last for a minimum of 5 parts. Subsequent molds will be held to the mold manufacturing tolerance. If alterations are required after first article inspection to achieve tighter tolerances, additional charges may apply. Design changes, such as draft, increased wall thickness, or decreased wall thickness may be required to improve moldability and may affect pricing. Minor warping and deformation is allowed on flexible and semi-ridged parts.

Parting lines, injection marks, flash, and other tooling marks may extend out of or into the part by 0.250mm (0.010"). Minor tool marks and scratches visible on the part are acceptable.

Unless otherwise specified, all quotes are based on the assumption that standard casting and molding equipment will be used. If special tooling configurations are required, they must be expressed during the quoting process.

4. 3D Printing

All surfaces will have a consistent visual appearance. Parts will have the support structures removed and will be cleaned of all excess support/build material.

All parts will have an acceptable accuracy of +/-0.200mm with an additional +/-0.500mm per every 100mm. Tighter tolerances are possible but not guaranteed on the first attempt.

5. Laser Cutting

All parts will have an acceptable cut accuracy of +/-0.125mm (± 0.005") plus an additional +/-0.050mm (± 0.002") for the laser kerf. Engraving location accuracy is +/-2.000mm (± 0.080") and +/-0.125mm (± 0.005") plus an additional +/-0.050mm (± 0.002") for the engraving cut.

Minor tool marks and scratches visible on the part are acceptable. Parts made from material with protective film may be shipped with the film still on.
